Here are three new books by local authors. “Ivan, the Forest Service Pack Mule” is a children’s book written by Mike McFadin of Weaverville and illustrated by Gay Berrien of Big Bar. Mike is the Shasta-Trinity National Forest Wilderness and Trails manager and Gay is a retired Forest Service employee. This book is based on a real-life mule with an attitude that Mike works with.
“Lost Coast Rocket” and “Hatching the Phoenix Egg” are two sci-fi books written by Joel Horn from Trinity Center. The story features a boy and his friend who create a secret rocketry club in order to build and test rockets. “Impossible beyond this Point” is a true story of his family’s struggle to create a self-sufficient life in the wilderness after moving there from the city.
